Mark M. Hrenya
Mark Hrenya advises clients on international tax matters.
His clients include software, e-commerce, semi-conductor, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies; manufacturers and service providers; venture capital and other private equity funds; foreign investors in U.S. real estate; and highly-compensated individuals.
Mark’s transactional practice includes cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and collaborations, financing transactions (debt and equity) for funds and portfolio companies, and executive transfers. He provides advice on the establishment and reorganizations of international operations, technology transfers, cost-sharing arrangements, fund formations, fund investments, and executive and employee compensation and benefit agreements. Mark also represents companies and individuals on tax controversy matters related to the above matters.
Mark began his career with one of the Big Four accounting firms (PwC), where he worked for 7 years in the firm’s Denver, San Francisco, and Palo Alto offices before joining a large Denver-based law firm (Holme Roberts & Owen LLP, now Bryan Cave), attending law school, and becoming a partner and co-chair of the firm’s international practice for 10 years. After HRO, Mark was a tax partner for 16 years at a large California based law firm (Cooley LLP).
Mark is recognized by his peers in The Best Lawyers in America®: Tax Law and Who’s Who Legal: Telecommunications, Media and Technology. He writes and speaks on international tax matters and teaches tax law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
